Since the legalization of cannabis in Canada in 2018, festivals have begun to appear across the country. These festivals and trade shows vary in who they are aimed towards. Some festivals are aimed at cannabis users and typically will have food and product vendors. Others are aimed towards producers, and feature the latest innovations in growing. Here are some of the upcoming festivals to look forward to in 2022.
Vancouver Island Cannabis Expo
Vancouver, BC: August 6th - 7th.
The two-day festival of live music, island artisans, and vendors, advertises that it aims to educate attendees with the benefits of cannabis from Cannabis Industry experts. This event generally brings together 100 - 500 exhibitors and 1000 - 5000 visitors. The Cannabis King competition is sure to be a favourite!
Calgary, AB: September 8th
Organizers of Hempfest and the Budtenders Association partnered to create this event. BudFest is aimed at both users and growers of cannabis. In its seventh year, this event continues to mix party and professionalism to cater to different participants. This festival has held events from coast to coast and has hosted over 100,000 cannabis guests. The following event for BudFest will be in Edmonton in the Spring of 2023.
The 9th Annual Karma Cup
Toronto, ON: September 10th - 11th
In it’s 9th year, the Karma Cup brings together vendors, a sesh space, DJs and live art mural. Hosted in Toronto’s West End, this rain or shine festival’s location is not announced until the morning of the event. This information goes live at 7am on the first day of the event. The Karma Cup was first organized in 2014 as a safe space for growers, business owners and industry experts to gather and share information at a time where marijuana was still illegal. The Karma Cup is billed as Canada’s Largest ticketed Cannabis Pride Festival.
Grow Up Cannabis Conference, Expo and Awards
Niagara Falls, ON: September 12th - 14th
A large conference, it purports to “join top growers, suppliers, manufacturers, extraction equipment services, hundreds of top speakers and thousands of delegates together”. One of the highlights of this festive are the Grow Up Awards. This gala honours cannabis professionals and recognizes innovations and excellence in the industry.
Toronto, ON: October 14th - 16th
This is Toronto’s first hybrid show combining consumer and traditional trade shows. This festival takes end users and producers on a journey from production to consuming - and anything and everything in-between.
